Exploring beautiful open worlds in video games can be a mesmerizing experience, and Reddit users have shared their top picks for games that offer stunning landscapes and immersive environments. Inspired by a Reddit post asking for recommendations on games with beautiful open worlds, we’ve compiled a list of the most captivating suggestions. These games are perfect for players looking to get lost in breathtaking virtual worlds.

1. u/Big-Dick-Oriole: “Ghost of Tsushima and Red Dead Redemption 2.”

2. u/SkitzManLad: “Kingdom Come Deliverance. Not sure what it’s like on PS but it’s beautiful on PC.”

3. u/ilivalkyw: “Subnautica.”

4. u/Zestyclose-Fee6719: “RDR2 is the epitome of a beautiful open world. I rode around on my horse for hours sometimes just taking in the views; from scenic mountains to burned down abandoned towns. It was an experience. Ghost of Tsushima is every bit the arcade game that RDR2 is not, but its open world is similarly picturesque. Cyberpunk has the most riveting video game rendition of a modern city I’ve ever seen. It’s dystopian retrofuturism at its finest with insane amounts of easter eggs and environmental storytelling. Elden Ring has a captivating art style with so many secrets and surprises, one little detour can become your entire afternoon.”

5. u/Lazypidgey: “Lately it’s been Cyberpunk 2077 for me. I’ve really clicked with night city.”

6. u/Even-Funny-265: “Read Desd Redemption 2. Ghosts of Tsushima. Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West. The Witcher 3.”

7. u/Turbulent-Wind-4550: “Subnautica, and honestly Oblivion.”

8. u/rizsamron: “Outer Wilds can be fun to explore though it depends on your mood, personality, patience 😆 But seriously, you’ll either love it or hate it or hate it then love it or hate it then hate it then love it or just meh 😄”

9. u/Spark_Commander: “Ghost Recon: Wildlands. Either jungle or salt flat to small village and mountains. The biome and lore is fabulous.”

10. u/bekov: “Skyrim.”

11. u/TooLateToPush: “Elder scrolls Morrowind. It’s dated, but the world is so alien and unlike any other open world I’ve played.”

12. u/Oskej: “Elden Ring, Ghost of Tsushima, Red Dead Redemption 2, Cyberpunk, Assassin’s Creed games.”

13. u/Roddanchill: “Ghost of tsushima, Horizon Forbbiden West, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Outer Wilds, Elden Ring, Spiderman 1, 2 & Miles Morales, Nier Automata, Gta V, Final Fantasy XVI, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, GoW Ragnarok, AC Mirage, Batman Arkham Knight, Days Gone, Dragons Dogma 2, Death Stranding, Infamous Second son, Final Fantasy XV, Fallout 4, AC Blackflag, AC Origins, AC Odyssey, Terraria, Shadow of the Colossus, Yakuza Like a dragon, kingdom come deliverance. these are some of my favorites.”

14. u/LetsGoChamp19: “Ghost Of Tsushima, Cyberpunk, Both Horizon games, Death Stranding, Any Assassins Creed game.”

15. u/PracticalEffect6105: “If you can look past all the zombies and raiders, Days Gone is a gorgeous open world.”

16. u/theoccasional: “I would endorse a lot of the games others are mentioning – Cyberpunk, RDR2, Horizon, AC: Odyssey, etc. All great open worlds. I would also throw in Far Cry 5. I don’t know what it was but the open world in that game had me exploring for exploring’s sake. Wanting to see what was over the next hill or around the next bend, and feeling genuinely immersed in the environment. I’ve played other FC games but that was the only one that ever really hooked me. Bonuses: it has a great soundtrack, and is often on sale.”

17. u/moneylaundry1339: “Valheim. Also you can play with no maps and literally get lost.”

18. u/SquidwardsJewishNose: “Gonna throw in Ghost recon wildlands, that map is an absolutely gorgeous depiction of Bolivia.”

19. u/LeLuMan: “Cyberpunk 2077 one of the best.”

20. u/SuperAleste: “Ghost Recon Wildlands. Breakpoint is fun to run around in, but not as much.”

21. u/HndsDwnThBest: “Horizon Zero Dawn.”

22. u/plootermcgooter: “I think Kingdom Come: Deliverance is pretty pretty. Small map, but it’s open. Looking forward to the upcoming one.”

23. u/Nincompoop6969: “Zelda BOTW/Tears of the Kingdom, Shadow of the Colossus despite it being mostly empty, GTA IV listening to jazz on the bridge and seeing the flow of the night lights in the distance, Red Dead is gorgeous too, Ghost of Tsushima, Skyrim, Mafia 2, Far Cry 5, Yakuza 0.”

24. u/barbarkbarkov: “Elden Ring.”

25. u/Historical_Leg5998: “Assassins Creed Odyssey plus the dlc. I don’t actually rate it that highly as a game overall but in terms of looks, I put it ABOVE RDR2, Ghosts and anything else ppl have to offer. Except maybe Cyberpunk. Look at it. LOOK AT IT.”

26. u/fredy31: “Genshin Impact. That world is fucking huge.”

27. u/Sure_Maybe_No_Ok: “Far cry 5, the sounds and forest areas with little fishing holes, I would never use fast travel just go for a walk through the forest.”

28. u/u-jeen: “Not a popular mention here, but – Elite Dangerous!”

29. u/Jellyfishtaxidriver: “Skyrim with graphical mods.”

30. u/Dabrae: “Cyberpunk 2077. base game + phantom liberty – see you in a hundred hours OP.”

31. u/Neyva_86: “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.”

32. u/criminalinside: “Bethesda games… Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Skyrim, etc. All have a decent open world. The Fallout games turn me into a loot goblin. You can waste hours just walking around and checking out buildings and that’s it.”

33. u/crusaderprophet: “Witcher 3.”

34. u/Jupiter-Tank: “Generation Zero. Probably my favorite open world environment but the gameplay and plot are not quite as strong. God the premise is amazing though. The first 20-40 hours are spectacular, especially multiplayer, then it depends on how you find the rest of the game.”

35. u/Greempa: “I really loved the latest Assassin’s Creed trilogy – Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla. Wandering around ancient Egypt, Greece and England is so much fun.”

36. u/darthsonic2: “GTA V still holds up surprisingly well imo.”

37. u/icecreamcake15: “Valheim!”

38. u/thek3vn: “This might get lost, but I haven’t seen a recommendation for FF7 Remake/Rebirth yet. The first game is pretty linear, but still fun and the story is great, and Rebirth’s world is absolutely huge and open.”

39. u/ParkerM69: “Witcher 3.”

40. u/Blaknia: “World of Warcraft.”

41. u/NotAGreatScientist: “Two Worlds II. Hah”

42. u/NotKBeniP: “I know I’m gonna get downvoted for this, but Genshin Impact.”

43. u/Justapersonmaybe: “Cyberpunk.”

44. u/onetruegod127: “I had that feeling with Hogwarts Legacy.”

45. u/Catch_022: “Elden ring, also Genshin Impact (and that’s free).”

46. u/Ray13XIII: “BotW/Totk. Oops ps5, Elden Ring then.”

47. u/DMsupp: “Ghosts of Tsushima, AC Origins (Egypt is stunning), AC Odyssey (Greece is beautiful, not quite to the level of Egypt in Origins tho), Cyberpunk with high settings, Witcher 3, RDR2 and Elden Ring.”

48. u/Organicmint: “Recently started the witcher 3. took me a few hours to groove in, but now i‘m hooked.”

49. u/MeesterTheTank: “AC Odyssey.”

50. u/intergalatcicnick: “Witcher 3 easily. Game will always look beautiful, it’s art.”
